Move In Day

STAY ORGANIZED BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER YOUR MOVE

Congratulations!  Moving day is here or is very close…  If you have located this page, that means you are trying to ensure that everything goes smoothly on your big day.  Please see the list of items below to ensure you are on track for a smooth transition into your new home.

  • Contact your apartment management and make sure everything is on time for you to sign your papers and get your keys
  • Load that moving truck and ensure that your essential items and cleaning supplies do not get packed
  • Follow the American Apartment Owner's Association recommended moving checklist HERE
  • Once you have the keys to your new apartment, go over the inspection checklist and give your apartment a detailed look before you start moving anything in.
    No flaw is too small. It is a good idea to have a friend or family member mark items down as well just in case you may have missed something.
  • Make sure all appliances, plugs, doors, windows and locks are functioning properly
  • Prioritize unpacking
  • Test all smoke detectors
  • Make sure your air conditioner filter is new.
  • Check with your manager and see if, going forward, they are responsible for checking and replacing the air filters or if that is something you are responsible for
