After You Move

STAY ORGANIZED BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER YOUR MOVE

Congratulations!  Hopefully you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  You may not be organized but you are all moved in.  You did it!!!  There are still a few things to make sure you have taken care of so there are no surprises.

  • Make sure you have turned in your apartment inspection checklist
  • Make sure your mail key works and your mail is being forwarded as expected
  • Take your time unboxing items so you can get organized as you go
  • Before you get rid of your boxes, you might consider asking the apartment manager if he/she is aware of anyone moving out that may be in need of boxes
  • Confirm all of your utilities have been transferred out of your name from your old house and that they are in your name for your new home
  • If you have not already, be sure and get apartment insurance
  • Make sure nothing was damaged during your move (if items were damaged, be sure and get in touch with your moving company immediately)
